Give Me Your Best Tunes

My poor ipod touch is lacking in tunes. I've mostly used it for audio books and fun little apps, but now I need some tunes to write to, work to, sleep to, drive to, live to.

SOOOOOO,

What's on your ipod??

Is it something different for each genre or book?

Who's your favorite artist or group?

Give me a hand here. I had all kinds of music saved up on my desktop computer and it

CRASHED!!!

So I lost it all and have to start over.

Is it country, hip hop, R&B, Rock????

I'm waiting . . .

*tapping fingers on very sensitive ipod screen*

  3. Ok, Christine, I love all my good rock, pop, and everything else that sounds good. But when I want to write and not pay attention to anything else, I listen to classical. I have a Pandora station for John Williams where I've added a few songs to it for randomness. I don't write Sci-Fi (and I do end up with a lot of Titanic and Braveheart), but I find the soothing music relaxing enough to help me keep my mind focused but not boring to the point that I'd rather sleep than write.

  4. I have a mixed playlist that plays has everything from opera and Chopin to Muse and Nightwish. It also plays John Denver, Enya, Enigma, The Killers, and even some Techno. I really don't like listening to the same genre when I write and I find the the right song always comes on when I need it too. Have fun making yours. I had a blast.

  5. I listen to a lot of new age or soundtracks when I'm writing. Amethystium creates awesome mood music, as does David Arkenstone, David Lanz, and more. (I'd be happy to send you a full list if you want it.) The only vocal people I can listen to when I'm writing are Enya and Loreena McKennitt, for some reason. They don't distract me. Best of luck on your tuneage search.

I have tons more if you're looking for a certain emotion or tone. Music is really key for me. I can use it to push myself through chores (blah!) or to manipulate my emotions to get just the right feel in my writing.

Hope this helps! Can't wait to see you at the retreat.

  7. It depends on what you're in the mood for. I have a bunch of different playlists like...

Angry woman-music about how much we hate men (when that happens! LOL)

Soft favorites, running mix 1,2 and 3, New favorites, 1,2,3,and 4. Those are anything new I like.

Religious favorites, Great workout music etc... Just get on itunes and surf! If you want specifics, just let me know. I have TONS!

  8. Wow. I need to get with the music program. I write to silence most of the time. But I can see how having music that evokes different emotions could be awesome. :)

  9. OMGosh! You guys have done such a wonderful job of getting me all "tuned" up. I LOVE all these suggestions. I've got all kinds of music to play with now, and write with. YOU ROCK!

But I'll still take more, if anyone has some they'd like to add.

  10. You can go to Pandora.com, and listen to your own mix of music on the computer while you write.

  11. I have a hodge podge of music on my play lists, I admit that my kids helped me put it together. But I find that while like danyelle I really feel the emotion of a particular character or scene with the energy of a certain song or set of songs, I end up needing it to be quiet to write, or I can't hear what needs to be written. Wierd huh?
