Making an Exception

I'm not usually a big fan of Adam Lambert, but after watching him on Americal Idol last night and hearing this song, I just might have to reconsider. The lyrics are below.

Aftermath - Adam Lambert

Have you lost your way?
Livin' in the shadow of the messes that you made
And so it goes
Everything inside your circle starts to overflow

Take a step before you leap
Into the colors that you seek
You give back what you give away
So don't look back on yesterday

Wanna scream out, no more hiding
Don't be afraid of what's inside
Gonna tell ya you'll be alright
In the aftermath

Anytime anybody pulls you down
Anytime anybody says you're not allowed
Just remember you are not alone
In the aftermath

You feel the weight
Of lies and contradictions that you live with every day
No, it's not too late
Think of what could be if you rewrite the role you play

Take a step before you leap
Into the colors that you seek
You give back what you give away
So don't look back on yesterday

Wanna scream out, no more hiding
Don't be afraid of what's inside

Gonna tell ya you'll be alright
In the aftermath

Anytime anybody pulls you down
Anytime anybody says you're not allowed
Just remember you are not alone
In the aftermath

Before you break you have to change your armor
Take a trip and fall into the pit
Tell a stranger that their beautiful

So all you feel is love, love
All you feel is love, love

Anytime anybody pulls you down
Anytime anybody says you're not allowed
Just remember you are not alone
In the aftermath

  1. Oh I am a big Adam Lambert fan. Though I like his mellow stuff better, well as long as they have a scream in it! Lol! Which most do. ☺ This song is awesome! Such a beautiful message. I haven't heard the other version but I can't imagine liking it more than this one. And bonus, getting to see Adam without make-up! He is sooo purdy! *swoons* Yea, I know he is gay but I can't help it. He screams, I swoon. ;)

  2. I am not a big fan, although Adam Lambert is hugely talented. The words are so vital and meaningful. I hope Mr. Lambert makes wise choices in his life, so that we can enjoy his music for decades to come.
