I Need a Vacation

When everything around me starts closing in and making me crazy, I dream about getting away. All my life I have wanted to travel. I guess part of that comes from being an Army Brat. My father moved us all over the United States and took us to Germany for three years. When I was younger, I thought I would hate traveling. It was so hard to make friends because I moved so much. Now that I have been in the same little town for 22 years, working at the same restaurant, my feet are beginning to itch. Unfortunately, with a business and a child with a disibility, it is nearly impossible to get away.

In the meantime, I get away in my dreams and in my writing. Someday, I will see the sun rise in the Bahamas, go to a Broadway Musical in New York City or even just spend a few days in a mountain cabin. Someday...

  1. I hear ya!

Interestingly enough, I too was an Army Brat. We lived in Germany twice {Heidelberg/ Nurnberg area the first time then Mannheim area the second} and Texas and Oklahoma. Outside of military moving- I've also lived in Utah, Washington, Idaho, California and now Arizona.

Sheesh- just writing these down makes me tired!

I hope you get to go on a vacation soon... until then DREAM BIG! :)

  2. We were stationed in Keiserlautern, I think that is how you spell it. We were there for 3 years. We also lived in Kentucky, Kansas, Texas & Idaho, but have traveled through almost every other state. We always made sure we took routes that we hadn't taken before, so that we could see things like Mount Rushmore or the Grand Canyon.
It seems we just have one more thing in common, huh?
