TAG! You're It! - Tuesday

Welcome to
TAG! You're It! - Tuesday
where I ask the questions and my guest answers them.

But that's not all, my guest also gets to tag my next victim.
This week, NICHOLE GILES has been tagged . . . by me.

Question: What part of your writing journey was a pleasant surprise and what part was a disappointment?

When I first started writing, I believed it to be a solitary thing, a journey I'd have to make on my own. But it didn't take me long to realize how very wrong I was. The craft of writing may be something I have to do by myself, but writing itself only represents a small portion of the life of a writer. The rest requires the help of a village. Or a city. Something big. And I am lucky to have found that. My life is so much richer for all my dear writing friends, as well as editors, readers, publicists, and the various many others involved in the growth of literature. It's more than a pleasant surprise. For me it's a miracle.

I think there is disappointment in every job, every journey, every life. Rejection--by agents, by publishers, by editors, by fellow authors or writing associations--they all hurt at different degrees. Some definitely more than others. Lucky for me, I'm not one to dwell on disappointments, and instead choose to move forward with my face toward the sky. One of these days, I'm going to reach up and realize I can touch it.

About Nichole:

Nichole Giles graduated from Timpview high school in Provo, Utah.  Because her parents had restless gypsy feet and moved around a lot, Timpview was only one of many schools she attended. Her early career plans included becoming a megastar actress or a rockstar, but she decided instead to have a family and then become a writer.

Writing is her passion, but she also loves to spend time with her family, travel, shop, drive in the rain with the convertible top down, and play music at full volume so she can sing along.

Her first book, Mormon Mishaps and Mischief, was released in December 2009 by Cedar Fort Inc, and her second, The Sharp Edge of a Knife, was released by Golden Wings Enterprises in January 2010. She also blogs regularly at www.nicholegiles.blogspot.com.

And now it's time for Nichole to TAG a friend.
Joyce DiPastena,
TAG!  You're It!

Come back next Tuesday to see if Joyce accepts the challenge and to see if you've been tagged.
