Push the Button, Please!

Don't you wish that life had a REFRESH button?

Imagine yourself, driving down the road of life towing a huge trailer filled with all your troubles and worries. Then you come to a place that looks oddly like the refresh button on your computer.

Oh, how tempting that would be to push that button and have everything in your life reload, reboot, reorganize and just simply disappear when needed. That's how I feel right now and have felt for several months.

I think for the most part, things are fairly normal and everything will work out in time.

And then there's my writing.

UGH

I've been able to do edits and some rewrites, but when I sit down to create something new and wonderful, I get . . .

(insert crickets chirping here)

So, I've been thinking and praying and chatting with friends and praying some more and I think I just need to simplify my life and hit that imaginary REFRESH button. What does that mean? Well, that means a change here on my blog, for one. I will no longer have anything scheduled. I'll just blog whatever, whenever.

It also means taking more time for myself and my family.

No, I'm not going anywhere. Not quitting writing or anything foolish like that. I just think I need to take a deep breath and relax. Maybe the creative side of my brain will see it as an opportunity to step up and take over.

I can hope.

So here's to giving the REFRESH button in our lives, a big, healthy push.

Go ahead!  Push it!  You know you want to!

  1. I've been feeling the same way lately! I realized what I've really been missing with my family and my writing is fun. So I took up a new project with a friend just for the sake of fun, and I'm trying harder to enjoy my kids and have fun.

My blogs have suffered, of course, but they weren't doing so great when I was struggling, either.

    Good luck!

  2. I've always been afraid of blog burnout, or brain burnout, so that's exactly how I blog. I blog about what I want, when I want. I also NEVER write on a schedule and NEVER limit myself to working on one project. This is all supposed to be creative and FUN!

  5. I think everyone needs to copy that button to their own blogs, or print it out an tape it up where they can see it every day. We all need constant reminders to keep our priorities straight. Thanks for the great reminder!
