Waffles or Pancakes?

It really is an important question. At least in our house it is. While I'm a pancake kinda gal, my dear hubby prefers waffles. And that difference pretty much sets the tone for our entire marriage. How on earth the two of us ever fell in love, I will never know, because we have absolutely nothing in common. Two sides of a coin. I guess it's true about opposites attracting. Here are some of our other differences:

He likes classic rock music, I like country and R&B. He likes A1 and I like Heinz 57. He's a Montana Steak House kinda guy and I prefer Johnny Carinos. The list goes on and on. Powdered sugar vs butter and syrup. Documentaries vs Lifetime movies. Peanut vs Plain M&Ms. Thin crust vs thick. Strawberry Jam vs Raspberry. Quiet vs Talkative. Even keel vs an emotional roller coaster. Shy vs outgoing.

Need I go on?

It's a wonder we get along. But somehow we do and do it well. This past September we've been married for 25 years and I hope we have many wonderful years a head of us.

So, back to the original question. Waffles or Pancakes?

  2. I hate pancakes. I love waffles--though I only like them when they're fresh and crunchy and plain. That's right. No syrup, no butter, nothing. Just their unadulterated goodness.

  3. Um, am I weird to like them all, including French toast?

  4. Waffles, hands down. And my husband and I are pretty much the same as you and yours. Not a lot in common, yet we have a good marriage. Go figure.

  5. You sound like me and my husband! :) I used to hate pancakes and just barely started liking them again a few years after I got married. I now like pancakes better than waffles. Weird, I know. :)

  7. Oh, you guys are great! We both love french toast, but that's where the powdered sugar and syrup come into play above. He likes that fluffy white stuff and I like the goo.

  8. I used to like pancakes...until I got married and my husband put peanut butter and syrup on them. The smell alone nauseates me. I make pancakes on occasion, but I can no longer eat them. :( I like waffles, but I definitely prefer french toast with syrup AND powdered sugar!

  9. French toast with powdered sugar and hot blackberries; chocolate chip pancakes with syrup; waffles with strawberries and whipped cream. Any more questions?

    Merry Christmas, Christine!

  10. Stop. I've gained 10 pounds just reading all the comments! :-). I love them all!

Great blog Christine. Fortunately, my wife and I are a real mix. We do have a lot of things in common, but we are also total opposites in a lot of things. I'm very outgoing with no fear of talking to people. She's quiet and reserved. I like games that require talking or action (Pit comes to mind). She likes quiet games. I like going out with people and having people over. She's a homebody. We have people over, but it is a big ordeal for her (might be a woman thing--I'm ducking as I feel all those things the women reading this blog are throwing at me).

Happily, we are coming up on our 15th anniversary and things are still going strong.

    Take care,

    Randy
